In her artistic practice, Nina Staehli explores fundamental questions of the human condition and the currents shaping our society. Her work encompasses a diverse range of media, from film, performance and photography to sculpture and painting. She combines these media to create multi-layered, site-specific installations. Her powerful cosmos is characterised by a wide variety of materials and depth of content; it reveals social contradictions and encourages viewers to reflect on the fault lines of human existence. Nina Staehli grows up in Cham. She trains as an actress in Rome and works in theatre before studying sculpture at the Zurich University of the Arts and continuing her training in Faenza (Italy). Her artistic career takes her to Berlin and eventually to her own studio in Lucerne, which she moves to Mendrisio in 2021.
