Ruth Cécile Hürlimann is born in Zug in 1939 and attends the graphic design course at the Lucerne University of Art and Design in 1960. She goes on to work as a graphic designer in Zurich and in Paris. She later receives awards for her children’s books as a freelance illustrator and eventually turns to painting. From then on, her artistic work is inspired by the light and colours of Provence, where she lives and works since 1980. She employs a wide variety of media and her works are exhibited both in Switzerland and internationally.
