Oliver Kümmerli PdG.8 Punt dal Gal 2020
Current location
The work Punt dal Gal examines a dam in the Lower Engadine, focusing on the profound human alteration of the natural environment. The dam is both a masterpiece of civil engineering and a colossal eyesore. The project explores this landscape visually by physically manipulating analogue photographs, through burning, crumpling and tearing, to make these interventions tangible. Kümmerli’s practice lies at the intersection of photography and installation. He examines spatial practices and the production of space to explore the condition of the built environment and possible architectural futures. He approaches photography as an object, exploring its material and spatial boundaries and questioning where the image ends and space begins. By transforming architectural landscapes into three-dimensional installations, he creates new spatial narratives.
