Werner Iten's studio for ‘Images – Music – Languages’ lies in the heart of Zug. As a Zug local, he has been an integral part of the local cultural scene for many years, closely connected with artists such as Jürg Wylenmann. Iten not only creates expressive figurative paintings and drawings, but also performances and music productions. His paintings are represented in museums, galleries and collections and he has previously been awarded studio grants by the canton and the city to work in Berlin and Cairo. Iten’s working method is characterised by experimentation, the unexpected and spontaneity. His works often capture fleeting moments and characters. Werner Iten works as a secondary school teacher in Walchwil for several years before focusing on his artistic practice. He tours with a dance group for a time, particularly in the 1990s performs in many venues across Switzerland with his band ‘Ossobucco’, founds the WIM workshop for improvised music and offers language courses in his studio.
