Born in Zug, Denis Twerenbold initially studies Sinology, Photography and Sociology, later completing a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Art & Media at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK). Twerenbold lives and works in Zurich, and his artworks are exhibited both nationally and internationally.
Next to installations, object art, and video art, Denis Twerenbold’s artistic focus lies in photographic works that explore the spectrum between documentary precision and fictional narrative. Over extended periods of time, he creates works and series that engage with themes of memory, belonging and one’s own existence in relation to the environment and other living beings. In a manner that is often humorous yet critical, Twerenbold’s works are able to alter the viewer’s perspective on their surroundings, society and the world.
