Elso Schiavo is born in Baar and now lives and works in the canton of Zug. Through his studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule Luzern with Max von Moos as his teacher, he finds his way into art. He achieves national and international success, particularly through his poster designs. After several years of experience in well-known advertising agencies, Schiavo runs his own company in Zurich for three decades. Simultaneously he develops a distinctive painting style. The figuratively abstract, almost surrealistic mythical creatures in acrylic on canvas become Schiavo’s trademark. His art is often playfully and mischievously confronts viewers with their own shortcomings, offering hidden references and commentary on social conditions.
